July 18th, 2005
02:03 pm - ROSI, baby, you did so well It is merely July 18, but choosing courses sure gives me false hope that the summer will soon be done with.
HIS343Y1 Y Modern Espionage
HIS376H1 S U.S. Now and Then (Or as I'm going to start calling it, U.S. Some of the Time) INI225Y1 Y American Popular Film, 1970-present POL318H1 F Canadian Global Challenge I: NAFTA (this may also discuss Canada post-9/11... so no wonder it's a half course. BURN!) POL356Y1 Y Canadian Political Parties (my first Friday class - it had better be worth it) USA300Y1 Y Thinking about the USA I'm actually pretty happy about my classes. Sure beats last year's sloppy seconds (or thirds, or fourths). I can't believe I got into both Espionage and Pop Film... maybe my luck's a' changin'.
UofT has so many fascinating courses that I was desperate to take (America and the World, Europe in the Enlightenment, Ideas and Ideology in Canada [I'm weeping over that one]) but they all seem to get cancelled, or simply disappear from the course calendar. What gives? Current Mood: jus' a wee bit o' excitment Current Music: City of Love (Persephone's Bees) is stuck in my head

I wanted to take pop film but a) I thought there was a prerequisite and b) I'm far too lazy to take a course that requires more than three hours a week, even if it is to watch movies. Maybe I'll join you for screenings, though. It's like free theatre movies. Also, espionage? AWESOME! You can learn about the real Arvin Sloanes and Jack Bristows of the world.
Amen to Sorry, that was me. I'm dumb. What I was saying was "Amen to bemoaning course cancellations." UofT can be such an asshole. Oh good, I was worried about some LJ rando inviting themselves into my life.
But totally, if there are any films that interest you, I'd love it if you tagged along!
P.S. Hopefully real spies are also hot :P | From: | (Anonymous) |

He makes my loins quiver. Ew, I'm kidding. But, Fleischman = hotttttt Jew I DO THIS EVERY TIME! That creepy loins comment was me. Love that you're taking the pop film course!! You need to let me know what you end up watching. I still am in love with the English/Film department for making me watch "The Princess Bride", "Bram Stoker's Dracula", "Star Wars" and "Independence Day" in order to get a third year credit. Science Fiction and Fantasy in Film, I [heart] you! WOW that course sounds kickass!!
I wonder what I'll be watching... | From: | (Anonymous) |

hey ashley, it's jess!! (first year, arrested development co-obssessee) i jumped live journals... you can thank andrew for that one. :) i had no idea you were taking a course at erindale! i live a 5 minute car ride away from that campus (and now you understand the eternal gratitude i owe my parents for not making me live at home and commute to UTM. good god...)
anyways, i was wondering where it is that you're living next year! i've reached a frantic point where i'm scrambling to figure out where everyone is situated. i don't wanna be president of a house full of no-good freaks with frat boy humour or anime loving tendencies! i'm scared. i'll admit it. i just hope you're on board down in lower with me...then at least i'd have a source for some well timed sarcasm directed at the smattering of ingrates i just feel i'm destined to end up living with...
jess Awww, Jess, I'm so happy to hear from you!!! Unfortunately, I'm in Middle. I'll always be up for Burwash and AD and other fun, though!
And of course, mocking your lowers (in both senses of the word). Heh heh..."your lowers"...heh heh...girl parts. Okay, in all THREE senses of the word. |
